OnlineJobs.ph vs. VirtueStaff: who does the hiring?

OnlineJobs.ph sells access to a job board so you can recruit Filipino workers yourself; VirtueStaff does the search, the screening and the payroll, and you choose the colleague who joins your team.

Short answer

Choose VirtueStaff if you want the hiring done for you: we screen over 5,000 candidates a week in seven steps, you interview 2–4 finalists and choose, and we handle payroll and replacements, with no upfront costs. OnlineJobs.ph is a job board: $69 or $99 a month, paid upfront, to recruit Filipino workers yourself.

If you’re comparing OnlineJobs.ph with VirtueStaff, you’re really deciding who does the hiring: you, or a team that does it every day. We’re VirtueStaff, a remote staffing company in Gilbert, Arizona, and this is how the two compare.

The short version: OnlineJobs.ph gives you access to a database of Filipino job seekers, and in their own words, “We don’t pick the people for you.” You write the job post, sort the applicants, interview, negotiate pay, set up payments, handle the paperwork, and start over if it doesn’t work out. We do the search and the screening, present only the top 1%, handle payroll and international legal requirements, and you make the final choice. Every fact about OnlineJobs.ph below comes from their own website, read on 23 October 2026 and linked in the sources. We’ve also compared ourselves with Wing Assistant and Stealth Agents.

What does “doing it yourself” actually involve?

Every step a staffing company does for you becomes yours. On OnlineJobs.ph, a hire looks like this:

  1. Write and post the job. A paid plan gets instant approval; free posts take two days, and a free account can’t contact or interview anyone.
  2. Sort the applicants. Up to 200 applications per job on paid plans. On Premium, their Smart Shortlist uses AI to narrow the list: “AI does it for you.”
  3. Interview and test. Your time, your questions, your judgment of English, skills and reliability.
  4. Negotiate pay. OnlineJobs.ph says the worker’s pay “is dependent on how much you negotiate with them before you hire them.”
  5. Set up payments and paperwork. You pay the worker yourself. Paying through Payoneer with a credit card adds a 3% to 4% fee, and the tax forms are yours to collect.
  6. Start over if it doesn’t work out. A new search, new interviews, new training.

With us, steps 1 to 5 are done before you meet anyone. You interview the finalists, choose, and get to work.

Why does our process bring higher-tier talent?

Because people screen every candidate, in seven steps, before you spend a minute. Over 5,000 candidates are screened per week. Every one goes through the same seven steps:

StepWhat it checks
1. Resume screenQualifications and experience for the role
2. English and accent screenFluency, accent and clarity of communication
3. Skill assessmentThe competencies the role actually needs
4. Internal interviewOur own evaluation of the candidate
5. Technology evaluationTheir setup, tools proficiency, equipment, internet and remote-readiness
6. Specialized evaluationDomain testing for the industry or role
7. Your interviewYou meet the finalists and choose

Only the top 1% of screened candidates are presented to you. A job board shows you everyone who applied; we show you the few worth your time.

How do the interviews work?

You meet 2–4 finalists per round, and we keep going until you find the right person. There’s no limit on rounds. After each one, we take your feedback and apply it to the next shortlist, so every round gets closer to what you want. Most clients need only one or two rounds before they find a hire they really like.

We’re committed to finding your perfect hire, not filling a seat. And if a hire still doesn’t work out after they start, our Perfect-Fit Guarantee covers it: we find a replacement free of charge, with a trial period included.

What level of talent can you hire through us?

Professionals recruited for the role. We recruit by role and industry:

RoleWho we place
Executive assistantsExperienced executive assistants, chiefs of staff and senior admin professionals with U.S., U.K., Australian and Canadian executive support experience
SpecialistsHighly educated knowledge workers with 3–5+ years of professional experience in their specialty, who can own projects, not just assist
LegalTrained attorneys (JD/LLM), foreign-licensed lawyers and senior paralegals
MedicalNCLEX-passed RNs, physicians preparing for the USMLE, medical scribes, prior-authorization specialists and billers
AccountingCPAs, chartered accountants, senior auditors and tax specialists
Real estateU.S.-trained transaction coordinators, inside sales agents, marketing specialists and property managers
TradesDispatchers, CSRs, estimators’ assistants, AR/AP specialists and operations analysts

And because we recruit across six regions, not one country, you can hire for the time zone and language your work needs, including bilingual English-Spanish candidates. Our Philippines vs. Latin America guide shows the hours side by side.

Why do our hires become real team members?

Because we screen for contributors, not task-doers, and pay them well enough that the best people want the seat and keep it. A task-doer waits for the next request. A contributor notices what’s slipping, fixes it, and makes the business better without being asked. We screen for people who are reliable, motivated and capable of thinking like owners, and it’s why our clients treat their hires as colleagues.

Our hires are paid above industry standards and can earn up to 8x their local salaries, and raises and bonuses go 100% to the hire. A dedicated success manager supports you and your hire from day one.

Here’s what that looks like at our clients:

  • Leak Science, a leak detection company in the Phoenix Valley, has had the same remote office manager since August 2024. She chose and rolled out their new field service software, wrote their SOPs and first employee handbook, and the owner now spends three to five hours a week on the business.
  • McCarthy Law, an estate planning firm in Rhode Island, grew from one executive assistant to a six-person remote team.
  • Willmeng Construction, a commercial general contractor in Phoenix, added seven remote hires in accounting, IT and people operations in seven months.

We just keep coming back to you guys. The vetting of the candidates, setting up the interviews, handling everything, even helping with performance management.

Stacy Hanson, McCarthy Law

How do you protect your business information?

In writing. OnlineJobs.ph’s FAQ answers the trust question with the culture of honesty they see in the Philippines. We put it in a contract: every hire signs one with us that includes an NDA and confidentiality clause covering your business. If the role touches patient records, every hire you bring on also signs a business associate agreement directly with your practice; our medical virtual assistant guide explains how that works.

What about price?

The subscription is the smallest part of hiring direct; the search, the paperwork and the restarts are the rest. OnlineJobs.ph charges $69 a month for Pro or $99 for Premium ($299 or $349 a year), paid upfront, before you can contact anyone. The worker’s pay comes on top, at whatever you negotiate, and so does your time.

With us, there are no setup, onboarding or upfront costs, and one flat hourly rate covers the search, the screening, payroll, a dedicated success manager and the Perfect-Fit Guarantee. A full-time VirtueStaff Assistant is $12 an hour, about $2,080 a month, and executive assistants start at $15 an hour. Every rate is on our pricing page.

The biggest cost of hiring direct is a hire who doesn’t work out: the search and the training start again, and it’s all on you. Our post on the turnover tax shows how to price that, and our guide to hiring directly or through an agency walks through the tax forms you’d collect yourself.
