Frequently Asked Questions
Is my hire dedicated?
Absolutely! Your candidate will work exclusively for you unless otherwise requested. When you hire a VirtueStaff candidate, they’re aiming for a permanent role in your company, and looking for long-term success.
Who manages my hired candidate?
You are responsible for onboarding, training, and day-to-day management of the candidate. VirtueStaff handles logistics such as payroll and international legal requirements. We also offer coaching and performance monitoring support if needed. If you’re unsatisfied with your hire, we’ll source a replacement at no additional cost, including a trial period for your new hire.
How do I manage my hire day to day?
Like any team member: you onboard, train and assign the work, and we handle payroll and support. Use the chat and video tools you already have. In the first weeks, a short end-of-day report and a daily check-in catch problems early; after that, a direct supervisor and a weekly priorities call keep the work moving. Your success manager helps with coaching.
What is the contract length?
VirtueStaff offers month-to-month contracts for most services, with some exceptions for VirtueStaff Teams.
How much are candidates getting paid?
We ensure our candidates are compensated above industry standards, with included opportunities for raises and bonuses.
Can I give my hire a Raise or Bonus?
Absolutely! Once your hire is working full-time, you can give raises or bonuses as you see fit. Your hire will receive 100% of these, with no additional fees.
Part-time or Full-time? What are the minimum number of hours?
We require a minimum of 20 hours per week for all our services to ensure your hire remains dedicated to your account.
How much does a full-time virtual assistant cost per month?
About $2,080 a month for a full-time VirtueStaff Assistant: $12 an hour × 40 hours a week × 52 weeks ÷ 12. Executive Assistants are about $2,600 a month ($15/hr) and Specialists start around $3,120 ($18/hr). Part-time (20 hours a week) starts at about $1,127 a month. Rates are flat, with no overtime surcharge.
What hours/timezone will my candidate work?
Our candidates have experience working in U.S. time zones and are committed to continuing this. However, you can arrange for your candidate to work in any time zone that suits your needs.
Do I get to pick my Hire?
Yes, you will have the opportunity to interview and select the candidate that best fits your needs. This is an important part of the process to ensure they are a good fit for your company.
Can I hire more than one person or build a team?
Yes. Start with one role and add more as each one works. Remote teams can cover operations, finance, intake, client care, accounting, IT and people operations. See how clients have built theirs in our case studies.
What if my Hire is not a good fit?
We offer a perfect fit guarantee. If you feel your hire isn’t a good fit, we’ll find you a replacement for free with a trial period included.
Is my VirtueStaff hire considered an employee? What about taxes?
Your hire is part of your team but remains an independent contractor with VirtueStaff. We handle payroll and legal details. You onboard, train, and manage them as you would with any internal hire. You can write off our service as an expense.
What about PTO and time off?
PTO and time-off policies are determined by you and your hire, ensuring flexibility and mutual agreement.
What is their fluency in English?
We have a rigorous selection process to ensure top talent. All candidates have prior remote work experience in English-speaking countries and excellent English proficiency. Higher-tier candidates have native-level English skills.
Do you have bilingual candidates?
Yes, we source talent globally and can find bilingual virtual candidates to meet your specific needs.
What support do you provide? How does customer support work?
We support both you and your hire with mentoring, training, and assistance to ensure you get the most out of your partnership with us. We’re here to help every step of the way.
Is there an overtime fee?
No, as long as your candidate agrees to work extra hours, we’ll invoice you at the same hourly rate.
Where are these candidates coming from?
We source talent from around the world, primarily from the Philippines, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Pakistan. Our goal is to find you the best hire, no matter their location.
What is the difference between a BPO and a VA?
A Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) involves outsourcing entire business functions to another company, whereas a Virtual Assistant (VA) provides individual, specialized support to your team, seamlessly integrating with your business operations.
Which roles should stay local and which can be remote?
Use a simple test: roles that meet clients face to face or work hands-on with crews stay local, and work that can be done from anywhere, with a clear scope and a clear result, goes remote. Invoicing, insurance compliance, administration and phone intake all work remotely; client meetings and on-site crew work stay in person.
How quickly can they start, how long does it take to get started?
From your Discovery Call on day 1, we can have candidates ready to interview by day 4, with potential start dates as early as the next day. Your next star team member could be onboard in just five days.
How can VirtueStaff save me money?
By sourcing top talent from regions with a lower cost of living, we can save you money without compromising quality. VirtueStaff saves clients an average of $20,000 per year per U.S. employee (VirtueStaff client data, 2026). Our rigorous selection process ensures you get motivated and high-quality staff.
Why are VirtueStaff candidates different from any other?
